Properties box
Whenever I right-click the properties of a desktop icon, everything works as normal but when I click OK or Cancel to close the box it takes a couple of minutes to disappear. It's not a major inconvenience but I'm wondering if there could be an underlying problem that needs looking at. Has anyone else experienced this in WinME?

Hello koala
I never used ME so I cant say I have ever experienced it. Does this happen with all Desktop icons? Does it happen anywhere else in the system?

Hi GeekGirl,
It only happens when I do something in the properties box. For example, I want to check a program's version number before updating, so I right-click the desktop shortcut, go to Properties, 'find target' tab, then Properties and the 'version' tab of the file. With me so far? I thought it might be something to do with low system resources, but Cacheman says they're ok. Everything else is fine and I can carry on working while the box is waiting to close, no slow-down. I tried ctrl-alt-del to see if anything unusual was running, but just my usual programs, no rundll's or anything strange. Last edited by koala; 04-18-2005 at 12:35 PM. |

I'm with ya
I am unsure why this would happen, I will alert another member to take a look at this thread. It may be nothing at all, has it always done this or have you just started noticing it?

Thanks for the reply.
As far as I can remember it's always done it, whether it's on a clean install or a fully setup system. I checked again this morning before running any programs and it's still there. I've always thought it was just one of those things, maybe a quirk of Windows or too many programs running at the same time, but it's not a big deal, just a bit curious. Since discovering this forum, I thought I'd see if it was a known issue. (so please don't spend too much time on it )

It may just be something with Windows ME.
I apologize for not having an answer for you, I can't possibly know everything, and I don't....lol
