Windows ME Boot Disk

I have used Windows ME for years, but have never made a boot floppy—choosing instead to rely on backups. Recently I tried to make a boot disk using add/remove programs—startup disk—create disk and it wouldn’t create the disk. It refers me to the installation disk to retrieve the files but they aren’t there. I searched all the cab files and did a disk search for some of the referenced files that it couldn’t find, but they are not on the disk. I also searched the hard drive for them, but they aren't there either. The disk is a full Microsoft install. What is the problem??

As an alternative, I tried to find a downloadable startup disk for Windows ME in Google, but it doesn’t seem to be a cut and dried thing, and I didn’t find anything that seemed “right”. It seems to me that something like this would be widely available.

Help please.

Hi,

Most of us here on the forum use Bootdisk.com for free boot disks. They are free and a great site.

Windows ME Boot Disk

Thanks for the info. I got it and it works fine.

I can't imagine why ME can't generate it's own--one of the great mysteries of life, I guess.
