error starting windows

I get the blue screen saying error starting windows please restart computer.
Any ideas what I should do or where to start?

(pent II - maxtor ata 100 hard drive controlollor card - 265 ram)

I will restart and then it of course goes to safe mode then I restart again and it usually boots up after that.

More information please.

A Blue Screen error and M.e. go together very very well. The problem is there are all kinds of Blue Screens of death and on bootup for example there could be a VxM type, Protection Error, let see Driver Lookup error, if your trying to modify code you get XC112 Errors.. not that I have try-ed or anything...

anyway more specifics on the error messages and exact location also drive light activity and I could prob. be of more help.
