Windows 98 will go up untill I get a "Bad command" message and it stops right at that at that point. I have run scan disk with no problems, and I can run in the safe mode and from MS-Dos, I would appreaciate any help with this problem.

Re: Windows 98 wil not start
Hi mavjoh
Boot into Safe Mode, select the RUN command on the Start menu, and in the Start/Run box, type msconfig Then select the Startup tab (farthest on the right), and remove the checkmarks from non-essential items. Then reboot. If the system reboots without error, you can enter msconfig again, and replace the checkmarks one at a time (rebooting each time you re-enable one). Eventually you should see that error again: when you do, you'll know which process is broken or infected. __________________ I recommend that you run malware scans as soon and as thoroughly as possible. Some can run in Safe Mode. Just to be sure. Best of luck . . . Gary

Re: Windows 98 wil not start
use the System Information Utility (Msconfig.exe) to troubleshoot startup problems. After you restarting your computer several times, Msconfig.exe can help you to isolate a specific file or registry entry that is causing the problem. Once you determine the specific entry that is causing the problem, you should edit the appropriate file or registry key to remove the entry and then return the System Configuration Utility to Normal Startup mode.
