well i am not sure what extention needs to open .eml

i have done a test to see what will open the .eml

what i did was i made a bitmap on my desktop and renamed it test.eml

hit enter and clicked yes and then it was changed from untitled1.bmp to test.eml with an icon that looked like an open envelope.

this icon change meant that i had a program able to open .eml attachments. i double clicked... and what ya know! it was Outlook Express! so what i would do is save the .eml attachments to a folder or desktop and then open them with OE. now to view the attachments you don't need to set OE to the defaul mail app. just click no to that question. and then a window will show with the attachment. mine however was blank becuz i had no image in the bmp file to begin with. try this see if it works.
