Windows 3.0
Hello, I just found my dads old laptop so i decided to check it out. Well, lets just say it said the OS wasn't there so my teacher gave me some DOS floppys so i installed that...enjoyed playing the original Doom Demo(i really wanna call the number on it that says where you can order the full version from). But it originally had Windows 3.0 on it because MS office was on it saying it needed 3.0 to run.
So, does anyone know where i can get Windows 3.0? or if it would be possible, Windows 1.0 or 2.0....just for fun... Last edited by Siphis; 09-27-2009 at 09:37 PM. |

Re: Windows 3.0
Which version of DOS did you install?
Are you sure Win 3.0 is not still there? Look for a C:\Windows folder. If it's there, try typing C:\Windows\Win then press Enter. Also look for a Flats folder or Win30 folder, the install files might have been copied to the hard drive. About the only place you'll find those older versions of Windows would be an Auction site. Windows 3.1 or 3.11 will be much more common.

Re: Windows 3.0
to original poster: you CAN order the original doom from ID software:
http://www.idsoftware.com/games/doom/doom-collectors/ however the programs all run on Windows 95 and higher (they're slightly modified versions from the DOS versions so that when you accidentally hit the windows key (it's right next to ctrl, which you use to fire) you don't suddenly go back to windows - a very annoying problem with the old DOS version running on Windows 95) |
