Memory Leak

I have a severe memory leak. I use WIN/ME on my home computer and Physical Memory starts out at about 55% when booted but will drain to 17% almost instantly if I have large programs or 3-4 different programs open at same time; and never recovers that memory unless I reboot. It will lose memory sitting idle and if in use. I must reboot at least 3 times per day. I purchased two new sticks of RAM recently and have tried several "leak plugging" programs........ What else can I try??? Thanks

When did this start happening? Usually you get memory leaks from a bad program install and you have to re-install the program to correct this.

Memory Leak

It has been going on for some time now, just seems like it is getting worse..... I have installed several programs and have no idea which one it may be if that is what causes it.
Could there not be any other cause for this?? When I say I have installed several, I mean SEVERAL..

That is the only thing that comes to mind for the cause. I don't know what else to tell you. The only suuggestion is to re-install the programs.

There is a very good article about Resource Leaks from Fred Langa at this link.

http://www.informationweek.com/story...cleID=17200587

This link will take you to last part of the 4 part article. There are links there to take you to the first 3 articles.

I sometimes use a program call maxmem from Analog X to release memory without rebooting. Seems to do a good job. You can download this free from this link.

Hope this helps.
