Ethernet Controller

OK i have a compaq presario 5020 that i just reformatted.

I want to use the internet with my cable connection. The computer has an ethernet card in it because theres a port for my ethernet cable. I put the cable in and restarted my computer. It comes up as new hardware and asks for an ethernet controller driver. I dont have one. Im on win 98 can anyone gimme a link of a driver i can fit on a floppy disc or cd that would make the divice work.

Its listed in the device manager but it has no driver installed.

Since we have no idea what NIC you have, it's going to be pretty hard to point you to a driver location. You need to identify the make/model of the NIC, and then it should be easy to find a driver.

Here is a program that will identify your hardware

Go to www.lavalys.com if you need help to identify your NIC.Click on products and you can download a free personal version of their software.Once you run the program you can post the make of your card.A good source for drivers is www.driverguide.com
Good luck,
Mike

Did you open the machine and eyeball the NIC? That's the sure way to figure out what you have.
