Dell Dimension (XPS T500) Wont Boot Up!

Yes like the tittle say's.. I Have a Dell Dimension XPS T500, Os i think is 98 or Me. I have done a system diag and all works well including the dvd-rom but when i put any Os in like: 98 or Xp it wont bootup. What happend that it stoped working? Light went off on the house and the message " Operation System Not Found " is showing. What else could it be to fix this problem ASAP!! Any help would be Thx.

When you say " when i put any Os in like: 98 or Xp it wont bootup" do you mean when you try to install that operating system?

You can run diagnostics on the hard drive ( click here ) to rule out drive failure

Hmmm, I should try the HDD, havent done it yet really. Ill use a IDE to USB to test it on my pc.

Not all Win98 CD's are bootable, but I think the ME (pardon the language ) are . . Do you have the BIPS set to boot first from the CD Drive?

When you boot with the cd in the drive, do you get the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt?

Nop, nothing at all. Inm guessing is HDD or dvd-rom Cause The Os's Do work i just re-formatted a laptop but not with the win98.

f you don't get the prompt, it's either the CD orthe CD Drive that is bad

o well... lets keep trying then. If i fix it i would post my solution so others that have same problem can get a better idea on how to fix it. Thx do.

From what i keep seen in the net is a BIOS update?....

BIOS updates are easy with Dells . . and relatively safe . . go for it

go to the Dell support site, enter your Service Tag Number and download the new BIOS
