Shutdown problem.

For some reason when i shutdown sometimes my computer's disk drives
keep running and my monitor stays on.I don't want to let the computer and
monitor burn all night so how can i stop this happening?

Hello and welcome to TSF salmonz

Your details show you are using Windows ME is this the computer with the problems shutting down? Any error messages? Boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key at boot, after allowing the system to fully load shut it down....does it have the same results?

Before shutting down pc, see whats running in task manager?
also

start
run
type
msconfig (press ok)
startup tab ( what is there)?

What antivirus and or antispyware protection are you running on the pc?
