Destroyed my Registry
Okay, I went to some video on Youtube that told me how to hack my ping, by manually changing settings in regedit. It told me to create two different files somewhere and change the Hex = 1. I misunderstood this part of the instructions, and changed every setting in that folder to Hex = 1. I think I may have also added a new key and deleted it, if that makes a difference, but now my internet isn't working. I'm currently on my brother's computer, trying to figure out what I should do to fix it.
The Youtube video is here: YouTube - How to Hack your MMO Ping And somewhere in those files, I changed all the Hex = 1, and also created a new Key named Key#1 and then I deleted it. I had no idea what I was doing, and I really would appreciate some help on how to restore my regedit back to normal. |

Re: Destroyed my Registry
Hi Dr.,
Haven't loaded 2000 in a long time. Don't remember how it handles this. Other versions of Windoze give you the option of restoring older versions of the registry. Usually backups are automatically done every day on bootup and 5 copies are kept. Win 98 does it from DOS by typing Scanreg. It will check the present Registry and tell you if it's good or not then will let you VIEW the old ones. Pick a date before your problem and let it restore it. If Windows is running you would RUN SCANREGW. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck, Jim |
