[SOLVED] Remove Search Strings - Windows Explorer Tools / Find /Files or Folders
Win 98 doesn't actually autocomplete, but Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) does save the search strings in a drop-down list in the Tools / Find / Files or Folders window. How would I delete the search strings? Unlike Win XP it is not possible to just delete the entries from the list when they are highlighted. Thank you.

Start | Run, type regedit press Enter
Navigate to here: Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Doc Find Spec MRU Also, you won't be able to remove the "" entry, it will re-create itself. HTH Jerry |

Re: Remove Search Strings - Windows Explorer Tools / Find /Files or Folders
Hi Tweak,
Take a look at the C:\windows\recent folder. If that's the stuff you want to dump you have only to delete the contents of the folder. I wrote a DOS Batch file to do it automatically on every boot. I don't bother with it anymore now that Hard Drives are so large and I don't worry about space. Good Luck, Jo, |
