Shut Down

I have a Windows ME, Emachine and whenever I say shut down it just turns black and stays on and you can't do anything from there. So I just unplug it to turn it off now. How do I make it so it turns off on it's own?

hey wackysims,

when did the problem start? (any new apps added, any new hardware added, etc.).

you could also check this microsoft article

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;273746

it might help.

I'm not exactly sure when it started because right after we got it running we put everything on it so, it could be anything. Is there certain programs that can do it?

off hand, i don't know of any programs that would cause windows to do that, but usually if the computer worked before, then u added something and it started not working, then that something probably would fix the problem if removed.

how long, after all the stuff was put on, did the computer start acting up?

if you haven't yet try going through the microsoft article.
