Log on
How can I make it so that I have a primary accont to log onto windows with? So when I boot windows I dont have to keep clicking enter and it takes forever. I want to be able to boot my computer and 3 min. later be able to already be logged on. Anyone know how?
Thanks, Eric |

are you running winXP or 98 or 2000?
with XP i am on and running in under a minute after i push that power button. with 2000 i can be online in also under a minute with 98 i had it configured to boot in just seconds.... i can tell you to cut boot time... kill processes that startup on your computer go in to start - run... - "msconfig" clikc the startup button and select files you don't want to startup. a general rule of thumb here is if you don't know what it is.... best leave it there unless you do some research and find out what it is. ![]() with XP tho.. i only have one user account... and i don't have to type in a pass or anything. just boots into GUI |

log on
I am not trying to cut boot time I'm just trying to have the computer log on to my account automatically at startup. It is the only account on the computer. I am running windows 98 SE.

it has been long time since i played around with 98 but i believe you can go into control panel and select users and select automatically sign-in. you can also do this by going in thru Inet Options thru IE. in the advanced menu. but again it has been some time since i played with 98... the paswords and username info are stored in *.pwl files in the
X:\%win%dir% or X:\%win%dir%\System32 where X:\ is your master drive |
