Possible IRQ conflict with two PCMCIA cards?
Background information:
I purchased a kiosk awhile ago and started working on it to put it in my car. It's basically a celeron 400mhz laptop in a heavy zink case with a 10.5" touch screen. It has a USB 1.0 plug, a laptop PS2 plug (I have to use a ps2 splitter cable for keyboard and mouse), and two PCMCIA slots. OS is 98. For this to work in my car and have the features I need, I purchased a linksys wcp11 wireless-b PCMCIA card, and a buslink USB 2.0 cardbus for notebooks. -------------------- The problem: A: If I have the wireless-b card plugged in with a keyboard connected through the ps2 splitter, both work perfectly fine. B: If I have the USB cardbus plugged in with the wireless-b card, the computer freezes. C: If I have the USB cardbus plugged in with the keyboard, the computer freezes. Sometimes unplugging the cardbus will allow the computer to unlock and work again, but for the most part it just locks up, the touch screen stops responding, and the computer sits and no activity is apparent from internals. My dad said it was a possible IRQ conflict, but when he looked at it for a few minutes, he said that it *looked* like everything was ok, but he wasn't possitive. So, below is the list of IRQ's exactly as it appears. If anyone needs more information to figure this out, I'll give whatever information I can, I'm desperate to get this working so I can get my project finished. IRQs: 00 System timer 01 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard 02 Programmable interrupt controller 04 Communication Port (COM1) 05 ESS Solo-1 PCI AudioDrive 05 Texas Instruments PCI-1225 Cardbus Controller 05 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering 06 Standard Floppy Disk Controller 07 ECP Printer Port (LPT1) 08 System CMOS/real time clock 10 Bt879 Fusion Capture Device - Audio Section 10 Bt879 Fusion Capture Device - Video Section 10 Texas Instruments PCI-1225 Cardbus Controller 10 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering 10 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering 11 Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller 11 Chips and Tech 69000 PCI 11 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering 12 PS/2 Communications Port (COM9) 13 Numeric data processor 14 Intel 82371AB/EB Pci Bus Master IDE Controller 14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo) 15 Motherboard resources Don't know if that helps, but if anyone can PLEASE help me out here I'm stumped and really hoping to finish this project correctly. |

I guess I should've mentioned that, haha wow.Yeah, the USB cardbus works fine on it's own. Each device works fine on it's own. If I start the computer up with the keyboard and nothing else (no PCMCIA's) it works fine. If I start the computer up with the wireless PCMCIA card by itself OR with the keyboard plugged in also, it works fine. If I start it up with the cardbus by itself, it works fine too. It's when I have the cardbus plugged in that I can't add the other PCMCIA card or the keyboard when booting up or else it'll freeze up. Sometimes while the USB cardbus is plugged in and the computer has been running for a bit, I can plug the keyboard in and it'll work fine, but I can't start up with it plugged in? I can also put the wireless card in after the computer has been running for a bit with the cardbus plugged in, but if I try to reset the winipcfg to get a connection off the wireless card that's when it freezes. Again, though, no matter what I have yet to be able to get it to start up with the cardbus and the wireless plugged in at the same time, as soon as windows loads it just locks up. Truthfully, I'm not so much worried about the keyboard as I am the wireless card, I can always add the keyboard via USB if I can get the cardbus and the wireless to work at the same time.
