Restoring files from backup on HD w/Win 98SE
I am having trouble w/ my ThinkPad PIII 700mhz running Win 98SE.
I was doing some audio CD-Ring over the weekend, and somehow this corrupted the MusicMatch jukebox app'l. I uninstalled it (as I was prompted to do), but then was asked to startup in SAFE mode. Well, it took me awhile to finally get my laptop to operate in Normal mode. Now, I'm able to operate OK for a few minutes at a time, before the laptop either freezes up or drops my Internet connection. Another thing I notice is that pictures and wallpaper will display as if I'm in SAFE mode (you know- images look "digitized" w/weird colors and poor resolution). This also happens to some buttons on a page (like the SIGN OUT one on Hotmail). I did create a backup of my files back in the beginning of January, before this problem started, which was saved on the hard drive (didn't have the CD-R at that point). However, I can't seem to restore from this saved back up. Any suggetions on how to either restore my files from the saved back-up or troubleshoot my operating problem are greatly appreciated! |

Did you check your laptop for any viruses or spyware? That would be the first step.
What is the problem with the restore files? Are they on a separate hard drive?

I think I may have created backups, but never either saved them or something. Every time I go thru Win to restore it tells me it can not find the files. |
