Booting from CD

Hey,
I'm working with a CTX EzBook notebook computer and I'm trying to boot form a full version of Windows 98 SE. It recognizes the disk and then it comes to a screen that reads.. Boot from CD-ROM or boot from the Floppy drive. I have a CD so I boot from the CD-ROM drive. After clicking on that I come to a blank screen with a white flashing curser. It shows no activity what should I do to resolve this? Thanks!
Eric

My System

Did you load the windows 98 bootdisk yet? If not, take a look at my format guide for windows 98. You may skip the formatting part since you probably did that already. But you will need to load the bootdisk and choose option to load with the cdrom drivers.

I may be wrong, but not all Win 98 CDs are bootable. But that's no a problem 'cos you can install Win 98 from the CD by booting of a Win 98 starting floppy which loads generic drivers to access the CD drive, then you change to that drive letter (usually 'E') and type SETUP.
If you don't have a Win 98 startup floppy (ie a boot disk) you can download one from http://www.bootdisk.com
But you will need to run the downloaded file on a working PC to create the boot disk. Don't get a Win 95 boot disk cos that doesn't have CD-ROM drivers on it. Must be a Windows 98 boot disk. When you boot from it you'll get a startup-menu. Choose the option to 'Start the computer with CD-ROM support'. When you get to the 'A:' prompt, change to the drive letter used by the CD-ROM drive (the boot disk will tell you the letter if you watch the screen carefully, but it's usually 'E' if the PC has only one hard drive - 'D' is used by the system to create a temporary RAM-drive when you boot from a 98 startup floppy. Make sure 98 CD is in the drive and type SETUP.
