God, I hate ME
I have an ME system that just hangs when the windows splash screen comes on. It doesn't matter what you do, scandisk, scanreg, surface scan, nothing works. They all go through there run, and I restart and it freezes as soon as the me screen appears. Safe mode, step by step, logged, minimal, it doesn't matter, it freezes at the me screen. So my question is, has anyone seen this before, and do you know of any fixes for this. Secondly can I re-install me and not lose saved data like e-mails and pictures and documents? Or should I just take a big sledge hammer and fix it that way?

scandisk for windows
What the hell is "scandisk for windows". I have an ME system that won't boot up, it freezes at the ME screen, no matter what you do. When I boot from a repair disk it runs microsoft scandisk, it then tells me that scandisk found an invalid long filename on the drive but was unable to fix it, to fix this problem run Scandisk for windows. I can't seem to find a "scandisk for windows" anywhere.

First piece of advice is to calm down. I know this is frustrating, but coming in here and "yelling" isn't gonna make anyone help you any faster. Also, don't create seperate threads for the same problem. This is why I merged your two posts.
OK, ScanDisk is found by going to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. You should try to run it, based on the info you have provided. Start with that, then come back and let us know what occurred.
