Windows ME to Win2000

Hi,

I have been struggling with my 2 year old (WinME) machine for the past few weeks. Its just running slow and hangs intermittently. I have run ad-aware, macfee, spy-bot and even Hijack-this. But to no avail. I have decided to go for the last resort and format my C: . However this time I want to install Win2000 OS rather than the original Win ME ?

Can you advice me how to go about it ? Is it sufficient to "format C:"? How do I prepare for this ? What should I watch out for ?

My System

You won't be able to format your boot drive directly. If your cd-rom is bootable boot from it. When the install starts you'll be presented with a screen describing the partition. Delete the primary partition then immediately create a new one. Format it to NTFS. I'm not going to preach but if there's any way you should really try XP since 2000 isn't completely compatible with some software but if you can't try the way I suggested and all should be ok. Make sure you get all the service packs and updates you can.
