Code 12 on ethernet card
I recently bought a used Acer Travelmate 514T. I put a clean install of w98se on it and am trying to network it with my XP PC. Problem is that the Accton En2212 ethernet card comes up in the Device manager with the yellow '!'.
Device status: This device cannot find any free Memory Range resources to use (Code 12) Under Resources, there is no memory allocated. I've tried the delete, reinstall numerous times but I can't get it to work. I know the card works because I used to use it in a crappy old Toshiba Satellite laptop. When it's all plugged in, the XP system brings up the "Local Area Connection is now connected" message so I know there's something going on but the 98 Notebook just can't get things running. I'd appreciate any help |

Welcome to TSF.
There seems to be another device that may be using the same port as the ethernet card you have. Take a look at this Microsoft Article on how to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Frequently, either moving it to a different PCI slot, or adjusting the settings in the BIOS will free up the resources it needs. If you have ISA interrupts reserved in the BIOS, that will sometimes cause the PnP to get confused.
