Problem using Recovery Disk

Hi everyone. I bought this iDOT explora PC off someone and shortly after the grahpics card seemed to of broke..that or display card. well i dowloaded the user manual, and it said it shuld have come with recovery CD *and it pointedly only said CD* Well i only had a floppy disk. when i put the floppy disk in, when select recovery with format...it does some stuff, then says "error writing to write-protected disk...retry or abort" then i click abort and then it says "Cannot open norton Ghost. Invalid dump file - is this prblem persists, please contact your local symetic company" or something. well its not my PC nor the one im using, but it is my sisters and want to fix it for her. can anybody tell me what might be wrong with it and how i can fix it? whether it means buying something new. Please if you have info take the time to reply. Thank you.

My System

Welcome to TSF.

You might need to get your hands on a Windows CD to fix this problem. But you said that the graphic card is busted also right? So that's when the problems started? If the graphic card is damaged/broken, you will need to get another one. You don't need top of the line ones. Just get a PCI video card that suits your needs and install it back to see if it fixes the problem.

cheers

Cheers mate. i alrady have a windows 98 installation disk..just that what i need to do is reinstall the original drivers..because i think ive damaged them. what i want to do is take the PC back to its status as it left factor - completely clean and clear....i want that. what i will do, then, is buy her a new grpahics card and use the CD given to install it..at least if i cant clear up the PC of all the crap, i can make it so she can view pictures without it looking blotchy and 50 times its actual size! do you think maybe phoning up the american=-based company would help? i could order a new disk and stuff...cheers anyway bud
