Newbie Here....Error Messages Recieved....Help please!

Ok, I'm new to this site and could really use some help. My Mother has asked me of all people to fix her Computer and seeing how I am not to wise when it comes to this, I am asking you for help. Ok I will try and explain some of the problems with this computer. Here goes:

1) I signed onto AOL today and went to my Favorites, selected a site and clicked go. I then recieved an error message saying

"Web Page Unavailable While Offline"
"The Web Page you requested is not available offline. To View this page, click Connect."

This has never happened before, and it's a little irritating. what can I do to fix this?

2) The Time/Date is wrong on the computer! When I go to fix/adjust the time/date the computer Freezesup and the time/date adjuster stops responding. What can I do to fix this?

3) Anytime I try to shut Down or Restart the computer a dialog box appears saying:
"Win Min"
"ThisProgram is not responding. It may be busy, waiting for a response from you, or it may have stopped running.

- Click cancel to ignore and return to windows.
-To Close this program immediately, click End Task. You will lose any unsaved information in this program.
- To give the program 20 seconds to finish what it is doing, click wait, and then try to close the program again."

OK, if I click wait, the dialog box appears over and over again. I have to click end task every time, just to get the computer to shut down or restart. What can I do to fix this?

I want to thank you in advance
Krystal

you seemed to have been hijacked

Here's how I solved this problem:

I went to
c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup
and deleted winlgn.exe (which might also be winlogon.exe or winlogin.exe or some such variant). Check the properties of the file you find there; if it is a fairly new file, it is probably a hijacker.

I then ran a deep registry scan with the latest version of AdAware and deleted the probable browser hijack files.

Next I ran HijackThis just to double check that AdAware had gotten everything.

Then I ran SpyBot.

Also, if you find a file called dllhelp.exe, it is probably a hijacker also so delete it.

Then reboot.

That's my story; can't guarantee it will work for you but all explained is non-fatal to your P.C

Has2SpoildBrats.....after we finish cleaning your log in the HJT forum, let us know if these problems still exist. We can fix them there.
