RE: PWS 4.0 Not Serving - Solution

I reinstalled PWS 4.0 and that didn't solve my problem.

I then went to the Home Page Wizard on PWS and had it create a homepage. I noticed when saved it created a file - localhost/default....etc

I found that strange as PWS had my server name as Andy which is correct and is what I was using to access my URL. I tried hostname instead of andy and I was able to get PWS to serve up the page.

I did a text search for "localhost" on my drive.

c:\windows\hosts had the file, so I brought it up in notepad, and I found the text file listed server(local) 127.0.0.1 twice, one for localhost on the first line, then again for 127.0.0.1 for Andy on the next line. I deleted the first line and saved the file.

That solved the problem, but I don't know why it was listed twice.

Andy
