no bootable devices
I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 which I bought at a garage sale. The last time I used it (as a backup) was about June 2008. I tried to boot up today and got the error message "No bootable devices. The sticker on computer says Microsoft Windoes 2000 Professional Windoes ME. I do not recall if it had been upgraded. Anyway, I am lost as what to do. When I turn on laptop, i get choice of F1 & F2. When I go to F2 for utility set up, there are 7 pages of info that I have no idea about. HELP! I have no disks.....Is this a lost cause?
Thanks.. |

Re: no bootable devices
My dear Friend, this is because of Hard disk problem. May be software or Hardware.
1. If you are system is able to detect your hard disk( During power on it shows hardware details, i mean Hard disk capcaity, CD rom Dive, RAM etc) if you are system is able to detect the hard disk. then its software problem. Your Operating System is corrupted. So try to load fresh copy of the operating System (Windows XP). 2. Another reason is, if your system not able detect, several ways to solve this problem. may be jump settings in Hard disk. or Physically damaged or it may be controller card on the Hard disk problem etc. (only the technician can solve this Problem, you need more idea about the Computer to solve this problem) |
