Re: Windows ME to Vista?
A PC that old probably wouldn't run Vista very well (if at all).
If you're upgrading (from any OS really) to Vista, the process is pretty straightforward - Vista installation, although long, doesn't give you a whole lot of options - it goes from start to finish and the only thing you really need to do is partition when it asks you to and enter the product key - then you wait for an hour or two. First I'd check the minimum system requirements for Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...uirements.aspx I know it says 512MB for memory, but I wouldn't even try without at least 1GB. If you have 512, it will be painfully slow - you'll hardly be able to do anything besides boot, open notepad, and shutdown... You can also use the Vista Upgrade Advisor to tell you how ready your PC is to run Vista http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx And before you format or install anything, always remember to backup your important data (documents, e-mails, address book, bookmarks, videos, images, audio, etc.) to another medium (hard drive, internal or external, flash drive, or CD-R or DVD+/-R) |

Re: Windows ME to Vista?
Well I am just taking everyhting out and doing a whole new motherboard, CPU, etc. So I justed wanted to make sure that I could do this before I go out and buy the upgrades.

Re: Windows ME to Vista?
Curious, do you know the specifications of your old Me computer? If not try this link and download Belarc Advisor. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Re: Windows ME to Vista?
Well, I went on the build forum and well the case won't fit any motherboard so I am just scratching it and building a new computer from scratch. Well the windows ME is taken apart right now so I can't get the specifications from.
