Windows 3.11 KRNL386 issue

I am trying to install windows 3.11 in a dos 6.22 environment. I keep getting the "cannot find or load KRNL386.exe" message. I tried Microsoft's Knowledge base and have done all the things the article recommends. Any other ideas?

I'm supprised Win3.1 questions go on in here.

Anyway you're installing Win3.1 from floppy disks? The KRNL386.ex_ is on disk 1. Now the file maybe corrupted thats why its showing this error. Now there isn't much you can do unless I post that file on here for you. Is that the only file thats shown up with a problem. There could be more on the other floppies.

I would also check you floppy drive is in good condition and its clean, get a floppy drive cleaner.
