How do I retrieve Hijack-deleted files?

My w-98 was running slow, causing me big delays in a Freecell tournament, so I ran Hijack and impetuously deleted a bunch of files. Now the thing is RREEAAALLLYYY slow!!

Please tell me how I can retrieve and reinstall these files. I have a Hijack Backup, but don't know what to do with it.

I know, I know, I should have investigated each file before Fixing them.

I have my w-98 disc.

Thank you!
-Chuck

Re: How do I retrieve Hijack-deleted files?

Hi Chuck

Don't worry, you aren't the only one to delete a few extra things by accident. TrendMicro included their undo list in the Backup section that you noticed:

Quote:
Open HijackThis and click the "Open the Misc Tools section" button. Click on the "Backups" button at the top of the interface.

A list of settings that you have removed with HijackThis will appear. Select the setting that you would like to restore and click the "Restore" button.
For their QuickStart Guide & more Frequently-Asked-Questions (FAQS), visit their HiJackThis support pages --- http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...ols/hijackthis

Best of luck
. . . Gary

Re: How do I retrieve Hijack-deleted files?

Gary, I launched Hijack and there is no tools section or button. I must have an old version. Going to the HJ website now...

Re: How do I retrieve Hijack-deleted files?

Wow! I like the new Hijack. It worked just like you said. I'm going to reboot now and see how things go. I'll be more thorough next time I do this.

With this new setup, I can experiment.
Thanks!

Re: How do I retrieve Hijack-deleted files?

Gary, not only is everything back running ok, the runaway cursor problem that I've been dealing with for a month is gone. YeeHaw!
Thanks again!
