Having trouble installing 98SE

First let me say that I'm not sure if this belongs here but If not, Mod, please move it to where it belongs...Anyway, Ive been trying to reinstall my Windows XP after my WinLoader became corrupt. I DBAN'd my hard drive and tried to install 98SE before using my XP home upgrade disc. However, whenever I try to install 98SE, it fails halfway through. I used my buddy's XP OEM disc to try it that way but that failed too. I think it may be a hardware problem or something, anyone have any ideas?

Re: Having trouble installing 98SE

Hi Lethal,

I just finished loading XP Home Update. I had cleaned the drive completely. XP did not want the 98 loaded but only asked me to put the 98SE disk in. It only looked at it and went on. It does seem that you have another problem so this may not help you at all.

Good Luck, Jim

Re: Having trouble installing 98SE

Jim is quite right. XP Upgrade will ask you to "show" it the 98 disk to qualify you for the upgrade. Just put it into the CD drive, let setup check it, take it out and put the XP disk back in. Should work perfectly.
