Re: windows activation
Well to start out with...I bought a used computer from my work and they had cleaned it out of everything so I had a guy that works on computers install whatever it takes to get it up and running and he said he installed windows now that i have problems he won't call me back or come and get my computer like he said he would and run a diagnostics on it. He won't answer his phone now so i am thinking he did some software counterfiting. I have windows 98 second editon in here i think thats what the product key on the case is for but it comes up with the xp logo. I think he installed xp and used the 98 second edition key. What can i do now??????

Re: windows activation
sounds like you need to purchase a legal version of xp operating system if you want to continue running it. Maybe consider putting linux on it since its free. In addition report this person.
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/reporting/default.aspx The product key on the case should say what operating system came with the computer however, since you got it from work, it may be invalid.
