HELP! I deleted a file I need.

I right clicked and deleted a file that I need by mistake. How can I find the file and get its contents back?

Hi Crey,

First, do not use the computer unless absolutely necessary to try to prevent the file you lost from being over-written. Next download a File Recovery (Undelete) program and see if it will recover it for you. There are lots of them on the internet. My favorite was Disk Information. Having problems with that one now, but used to work great. If it was a Windoze file and you have the install CD you can get System File Checker to reinstall it for you. If no CD, you should be able to download the file maybe from MS. If not then Google for it.
