What is a .ISO file

Just asking because, my friend was telling me about it.
He said it had to do with windows. But when I went to redhat
to download linux. It said DISC1.ISO what is it when what it do....

An .ISO is a mirror image copy of a CD all in one file, that your CD burner will use to create a complete CD of the orig.

OS: XP Pro , SuSE 8.2


You can use either Nero or Roxio to burn the ISO image. There may be other burning progs that will also.

And remember that when it comes time to burn it if your using Nero to go to File burn image! If you try to burn it in the conventional manner it will burn it but it will come out in the ISO format on the disk........................:D

yeah SPEEDO is right. You need to make sure that you tell it to do File Burn Image, i have made that mistake a few times.
