Gameport not recongnizing joysticks
Well it was a nightmare and I had all kinds of problems but 3 days later I finally managed to turn my winxp desktop into a win98SE pc in order to play all my old games that I really liked.
I have resolved all kinds of issues I had, but the one problem that totally has me stumped is the gameport. None of the joysticks I plug into the old style gameport get recongnized by windows. The gameport is part of a SB Audigy card. In device manager there are no problems or conflicts, and it lists Creative Game Port and Joystick Emulation. One of the reasons I installed win98 again on this pc was to play all my old xwing games and flight sims as well as use my CH products flight sim controlers. I have Pedals, throttle and a few diferent sticks. Things I've done so far: Formatted and re installed everything Tried multiple game controlers Tried updated to latest Audigy win98 drivers Downloaded and installed Win98SE unofficial service pack Checked the cable that connects the gameport to the sound card seems connected ok Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers Edit: Also my motherboard is an Abit NF-7S, I have 512mb of ram, a radeon 9800 pro, 80gig serial Hard drive, and a Sound Blasters Audigy OEM soundcard. Re: Gameport not recongnizing joysticks
Thats my problem.
When I have my joystick connected, and click add game controler, and select it, it says not connected even though it is. It seems to do this regardless of what controler I have plugged in. |

Re: Gameport not recongnizing joysticks
Update
I've since learned that the gameport should have an Input/Output Range of 200-207 but for some reason when I click on properties in my device manager, mine is set to 9400-9407. I unchecked "use automatic settings" to try and change the I/O Range but a message comes up saying "this resource setting cannot be modified". I'm stumped, why is it set so high and why isn't it working? Also when I disabled the joystick emulation driver game controlers no longer even lets me try to add joysticks at all it says "gameport not properly set up" or something. That explains why it was always saying not connected, because it thinks the only game port I have is the joystick emulation one. |
