Suprised Mouse Problem

I have a user with Windows 98 who's mouse wont work. The PC picks up the fact that there is a mouse there but the mouse itself wont physically work. If you try putting in a different mouse it recognises that you have changed it, but doesnt pick up on you moving the mouse around or clicking the buttons. Has anyone seen this?

Is this a special type of mouse like and optical or a wireless mouse.. If it is wireless you may need to replace the batteries in the reciever. If it is optical it may have driver that need to be loaded. If neither of those are the case you may have a bad ps2 slot.

Try booting into safe mode and see if there are any extra mice in the device manager.

Suprised

I have tried checking for other mice but there aren't any, & its a PS/2 mouse so I think its probably the port.
