Sending to a disk

My son has to type a report at home and put it on a floppy disk to take to school Monday. He has it typed in word pad and has it saved. I can't figure out how to then send it on to a floppy disk. When I go back and find the document, I double click on it and it opens up but I then can't find an option that says to save it on the disk. I sure would appreciate someone telling us how to do this. I would hate for him to have to drag the whole computer to school Monday. :D

Or When you have the actual document open, Just go to:

File > Save As >

And than it will open a little window.........

On the top of this small window, there should be an arrow pointing DOWN, Click it, And you will get a big list of different folders on your computer......

Choose: "3 1/2 Floppy (A: )"

And then just click SAVE.....

(Make sure you have a floppy disk in the computer with enough space)

Thats all! :D

There are many ways to do this as well........

Here is another way:

Find the file that you made, Right Click on it, and go to "COPY"

Close that window...........Go to the Desktop (Main Screen), DoubleClick on MY COMPUTER, Than Double Click on 3 1/2 Floppy (A: )..................

RightClick anywhere in that window, and click "PASTE"

Thats another way :D

Or you can do it the way Speedo Showed you.......

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,

DaTruMasta

Or you could take out your hard drive and mail it to me.

I will install it in my machine and print out a hard copy and make a floppy for you. Then return them insured by next day delivery.

Like DaTruMasta said any and all of the above will work.............

LOL you are so funny Speedo. :D

I didn't know there were so many different ways DaTruMasta. I will print that out to keep.

I now have it save on the disk but I have another problem now. It has to look like a newspaper article. I need a line down the middle of the page. How do I do that? I can't figure it out. I don't know how they expect a 1st grader to know this, much less their parent. :D Help again? please?

Thanks

Kellie :)

Ok What program are you using to make the article?

And do you have Microsoft Word?

Wow, that was fast. :D

I am using something called word pad. I don't know if that's Microsoft word or not, it just says word pad at the top. :)

Ok,

Unfortunately, you can not do this with WordPad because it is a very limited program that comes with Windows!

Do you by any chance have Corel Word Perfect? Or Ms Word?

If you don't know, try doing a search for them (Only using keywords like word, perfect, corel, etc.)

Or go to START at the bottom left part of the screen, Then PROGRAMS, And look for anything that looks like it might be one of the programs mentioned above :D

Best Regards,

DaTruMasta

Ok I searched for the words Corel and Perfect and nothing came up. I looked in the program part and have Ability Office and note pad and word pad. Will any of those work?

Nope

None of these programs will work........ Tell you what, Why don't you send me the text, I'll edit it for you so there is a line in the middle, And I'll send it back to you...........BUT........The file will have to be one that you will not be able to edit because you don't have the program...........What I mean is that I will have to make the file one you can see at your computer......If you don't have the same program I used to create the file (Which is MS Word), Than you will not be able to open it at your side, so I will have to re-make the file so you can open it and print it..........(You only need to print it right?)

This would be so great, thanks for offering, that's so nice of you :) but he has to keep adding to it after the teacher looks it over and tells where he needs to make changes. We don't have to print it here he will do that at school when it is finished. He has to be able to open it and edit it. How do I get the program you have?

You can buy it in almost every computer store, but it can be expensive..........

How about you don't make it look like an article until he gets to school, that he can devide the page into two colums when he is in school.

If thats ok, I can tell you how to do it, Because most likely he would be using MS Word at his school!

The price wouldn't matter to me, if he will be doing more of things like this we will need it.

I hadn't thought about him doing it at school. That would work just fine I think. Please explain it to me? He's 7, he might be able to understand the directions even if I don't. :D

You are the best Speedo!

I think this will solve everything. Thank you so much. :):):)

it says: "The viewer does not allow users to edit files. However, it allows them to copy information from a document to other applications." Does that mean we can type it in the word pad and then copy and paste it there and save it?

Type a document in wordpad and click file then save as (Whatever you want to call it) and save it in my documents.

Then when you click on it Word Viewer should open it. Try it and see if it works.............:D

LOL Well that was embarassing. :D

I don't know why the obvious escapes me.

I swear I really can walk and chew gum at the same time. :D

Thanks, I will do that when the download finishes.

Angel, you may also want to check out OpenOffice . They have a version for Windows and it also will open and save docs in Word format! It includes a spreadsheet program, a graphics program, and some other goodies too. And the price is right!

Thanks so much Midnight Tech!

This sounds just like what I need, especially with the graphics.

I have started the download, it's says it's going to take 14 hrs. and 20 mins. wow! All I wanted was one little line down the page, thats all. :D

The viewer finished downloading and I tried it and it did open the document but wouldn't let me copy and paste anything onto it. :(

If this program I am downloading now doesn't make that line then she will just have to help him at school or count him off for it.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Kellie :)
