Unusual Problem
I have recently gotten a IBM ThinkPad 670xl and everytime i start it up it goes through bios and then stops at a black screen with a white blinking under score it doesnt go to windows what so ever. I tryed putting in windows 95 and reinstalling it but it doesnt do anything i cant even reformat either.

Welcome to TSF.
If this is what I think it is ( ), it should be simple to fix.Get a Windows 98 bootdisk and boot from it. Load it without the cdrom support. Then at the prompt type in fdisk /mbr and hit your Enter key. Do a ctrl+alt+del to restart and take out your floppy. See if that will fix it.

I think the bootdisk will boot, no matter what operating system you use. I use a 98 bootdisk with WindowsXP because it has DOS on it.

hey guys,
also if you have a ethernet card in it try and taking it out then booting up. I've seen it sometimes the ether card halting the startup at the black screen with the white cursor, after i took the card out it booted. It might or might not work. good luck
