help with modem
My wife's cousin is using dial up to connect to juno. Here is the problem..After she is connected and can berowse the internet, the modem is still making that connecting noise. Does this mean I need to replace the modem, or is there a setting?
Thanks Milt |

I've never heard of the sound not stopping before, but I know there is a setting somewhere in the modem settings to mute the modem speaker. However, it will mute it for the whole time, not just while browsing. You won't hear it connect anymore.

Hi,
That setting is in Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem options, Advanced, Volume and there you can turn it off, but as Elf said, when you turn it off, it is off. I also have not heard of that one. You might want to uninstall and reinstall this device and see if you get the same result or if it stops. While you are at it, go to the modem manufacturer's website and download the lastest and best drivers. |
