Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

hey sweetlady,

did you make sure all your cables were connected (modem cable or ethernet cable)?

What happens when she tries to hit Start>Run and then punches in a URL? ...something like www.techsupportforums.com (this site)... You may also want to check the network and internet settings to make sure it's all up to snuff (stuff like the IP address may be specified by the server she's hooking to). I'm assuming she uses an "always on" connection such as cable or DSL and that she doesn't have to run some special software to get a connection. Some ISP's require that for some reason (cough, AOL, cough, Netzero, choke, gag, Netscape, cough, gag, :sick34: )

thanks to the two peeps that responded but she fixed the problem by restoring her whole computer over like she had bought it brand new and she was able to get on the internet.
