Question Is anybody using OS Win98 with DSL/Wireless

I've upgrade my old ten year old Presario 5050, increased RAM and HDD to the max. I'm having a time trying to figure out how I'm gonna connect to my at&t dsl via wireless adapter. Anybody online via Win98 and if you are please tell me what you know. If I can find OS Win98SE, I may be in better shape. If you are on the net with Win98SE/dsl please tell. Thank you.

Presario 5050 specs

Unless you have an older wireless pci adapter you will probably not be able to find one that is compatible with Win98.

Hi TD,

You say you increased memory to the Max? Win 98 will not operate correctly with Max memory. 512MB is ok and maybe 768MB, but not 1 gig and up. Strip it down to 512 and see how it runs. Maybe?

Good Luck, Jim

That motherboard will not even hold 1 gig, the max was 256mb....it stated in the link he provided.

Re: Is anybody using OS Win98 with DSL/Wireless

Thanks everyone for taking the time to responding and helping. It's been kinda frustrating but at last I'll install Puppy Linux and see if I can get this relic online via WiFi. Thanks again.

Re: Is anybody using OS Win98 with DSL/Wireless

Well wait, I do have one more question. Though I've been thinking about trying to get onlinve via wireless USB adapter, I've noticed I may have an expansion bay open to use a PCI adapter card.

Expansion slots

One open PCI expansion slot
One modem installed PCI/ISA combo slot
One open ISA slot

Does this mean I could install a PCI adapter card in this one PCI expansion slot? Thank you.

Trina
