ME - cdrom drivers required for bootdisk
I am in the process of re installing 'ME' onto a new hard drive. As my previous hard drive died. I have the orignal Packard Bell Master cds to reload the ME software. I have downloaded a ME boot disk file from Packard Bell web site and have created a ME bootable disk.
The problem I am having is that I am unable to use my CD rom to load up the Master cd when requested by the OEMSETUP pgm. When the pc was been re booted from the floppy drive all the drivers were loaded and it eventold me that my CD rom drive is D: To test if the CD rom is working I re booted the pc with a WIn 98 boot disk and was able to acces my cd rom drive. I need to some how to get the correct CD rom drivers loaded up in the ME boot disk. Thanks |

Hi,
You can in fact us the win98 boot disk to set the thing up for WinME installations. Just use that disk if you have one. If you actually would feel better having a disk that says WinME on it to boot up, then go to Bootdisk.com and download a new one. They aee essentially the same disk. Mark's hit it on the head either boot disk will work. I'm not very familiar with using the packard bell disks after a format but I find it strange that dos names the cd-rom as d. ussually when you use a boot disk it creates a virtual drive bettween the hard drive and the optical drive. so if you only have 1 HD and 1 OD your OD(cd-rom drive) would be E:.
