installing broadband modem
Hi,
I have got an AOL broadband modem and I want to get hooked up to the internet. I have Windows 98 SE and when I go to install the software and stuff for the modem the installaton process asks me for the Windows 98 CD. Now, heres my problem. I got my computer ready made with everything on it without any CDs for reinstalling purposes. The braodband modem installation asks for the Win98 CD because there is something on there that has USB support for the modem. As I don't have the CD, is there a way I can download the necessary files for the installation? Thanks for any help. |

Normally, packaged systems have the W98 installation files in a folder, normally called CABS or the like. Do a search for *.CAB, you should find a bunch of them in a single folder, this is where you want to point the installer when it looks for CD files.

The smart money would be to cook the entire folder those CAB drives are in onto a CD, that way you have a means of installing if you ever need to. :) Obviously, you should also use something like Everest Home Edition to read out your CD key and save it along with the CD.
