at bootup PC goes through network diagnostics??
Ok, using Windows 98 SE. At boot-up once the computer gets to the desktop a MS DOS prompt window pops up and several dialogue boxes pop up saying things like "listening to ports", etc, while behind the dialogue boxes the MS DOS prompt cycles through NETSTAT and PING. It just recently started doing this. I have the feeling that some malicious software like malware or spyware may have triggered this. I have run Ad Aware SE ver 1.5 and Norton Anti-virus and Ad Aware found a barrage of nasty stuff which i removed and then restarted. The computer still does it though. I have a Hijack This log pending suggestions in the HJT topic area. Can anyone tell me how I can stop my PC from cycling through the network diagnostic test once it boots to the desktop? TIA.
