PC locks-up sometimes when shutting down

I'm not keen about ME & are going to try to get him to upgrade. But in the meantime, would anyone know why the PC might lock-up sometimes when shutting down?

Press F8 when booting up (before Windows logo appears) and select 'Enable Boot Logging'. This will create text logfile in your C:\Windows (maybe \System) folder called bootlog.txt

Shut down as you normally would and hope you get the lock up. When you reboot, you should be able to view that log and see where it's getting hung.

Also load up the taskmanager and see what process are doing. This doesn't always work sometimes it does and sometimes the taskmanager goes down first but for me it usually goes down last.
