Outlook Express
I have updated my windows Me regularly, now all of a sudden I cannot open attachments in it, The check mark to block attachments is checked and I cannot uncheck it, I am aware of the viruses that attachments can do,however I only open the ones that i have scanned, Please tell me what to do to fix this,so that I can open my attachments.
Thanks |

Re: Outlook Express
Hi all
doverslight -- since your PC is running Windows Me, you should have the option to use System Restore to restore your system files and settings back to the point to where things were still working OK. You can reach System Restore in the System Tools folder in your Start Menus --- Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Best of luck . . . Gary

Re: Outlook Express
I'd like to make a general comment.
In every forum I visit, in almost every help request for Windows Me, someone can't resist the urge to ridicule Windows Me. That's not helpful at all. Just because something is old or discontinued does not mean it won't work. Lots of older software is the best software for many people. And that includes Windows Me. There are millions of people all over the world still using 98/Me because that's all they have. Maybe they can't afford the newest computers that support XP or Vista. Maybe they can afford a new computer, but just prefer the older systems. Maybe they don't need all the expensive bells and whistles for what they do on their computers. Why waste the money upgrading if they don't need to? I'm using XP Home, but it took me years to get used to it and finally keep it permanently installed. I fought it tooth and nail. I loved Windows Me. It did all I needed it to do. I ran it lean and mean; and never had any problems that weren't problems that I created for myself. I only forced myself to stay with XP because family and friends often needed help with their brand new, top-of-the-line XP computers. I had to learn my way around XP so I could help them with their problems. TBH, if I had my druthers, I'd go back to Windows Me in a flash. Except now my old eyes need ClearType. So I have to stay with XP. Sorry about the rant, but I needed to say it.

Re: Outlook Express
Thats fine. The thing is, his problem was already fixed. I wouldn't have said anything about ME until his problem is fixed. And true, if it works for him, thats great. But ME is known as one of the worst Windows operating Systems. Thats gotta mean something

Re: Outlook Express
I dont want to start anything, we all have our opinions, but I also love windows Me, never had a single problem with it. Im really mad that Microsoft has stopped updates for it, it is only to force us to buy the newest, they call it progress, I call it greed. . theres lemons in everything , but I didnt get one. Thats really all I have to say about this.
Again thank all of you who offered help. |
