98se slowwwww boot.....
I recently reformatted a computer to get rid of viruses. I know that it is clean because I checked it with a virus scanner (BitDefender).
The problem is that after I formatted it and installed all the software it started booting very slowly and in the middle of the boot when it says "window 98 is loading" the harddisk stops spinning for a long time. The only way to get it going again is to press the "Esc" key. Also at the begining of the boot when it checks for a floppy disk in the drive, the floppy drive clicks by very slowly (like one little click every 4 seconds). If it helps, it's a compaq 2286. I've also tried making the harddisk have boot priority number one in the BIOS, it sped up a bit bit but the HDD still stops half way through the boot. This computer used to work fast. Please Help!
