Re: windows98 S3 Graphics Pro Savage DDR

Hi hayjude

If all you want are Win9x/Me drivers for the onboard graphics (which is what the ProSavageDDR is), here's the link to the download over at S3graphics.com --- http://drivers.s3graphics.com/en/dow...wIShldlogo.zip

If you wish to view the full webpage, that download link is on this page --- http://www.s3graphics.com/en/resourc....jsp#id_420drv

___________

Since your system is starting in Safe Mode, there may be other troubles besides the display driver. Many possibilites: failing hardware, malware infection, misconfigured hardware, incorrect drivers, incorrect Bios setup or weak CMOS battery . . . . . the list goes on. For a quick fix, if the problem happened just recently, you might be able to boot to a command prompt (using a bootable floppy diskette or your Windows 9x CD), and then type the command "scanreg /restore" (without the quotes). If you have a saved Registry from before you current problem, that might fix it.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

Re: windows98 S3 Graphics Pro Savage DDR

did it actually boot up in safe mode, or the low display resolution leads you to think that it's in safe mode?

Re: windows98 S3 Graphics Pro Savage DDR

Hi there and good morning
thank you so much for that Gary.. just what i needed.. and thank you for putting it in terms i could actually understand..lol..as you seemed to have guessed I dont know my way around computers very well.. :-)
Seriously, as for starting up..it would not start up in any other mode..you have a choice on the screen safe was the only option that worked.
