Evil Video Cards On Windows 98 SE

I have a computer with Windows 98 SE on a 420MB hard drive compress to 7 something MB graphics cards work sometime and not the other times so any ideas

(My Computer Beeps When the Graphics Card Worked)

I would imagine that it's hard not to run out of room if you do much of anything with your Win98se PC -- 420mb is on the small side, even for Win98se. But your video card problem is more likely to be old-hardware or driver issues. You could simply try booting into Safe Mode, removing the current video driver, and installing a different version. Should that not work -- if you have a different card available (compatible with the PCI or AGP slot on the motherboard), you could shutdown the PC, remove the old card, put in the replacement card, boot into Safe Mode, remove the old drivers, reboot in normal mode, and install the drivers for the replacement card.

I imagine the "beep" you are hearing when the video works is the single-beep that happens soon after you turn the PC on. That single-beep means that the PC has passed the Power-On Self Tests (POST). When it doesn't sound the single beep, there's a hardware or configuration problem.
