Blank screen in `My Computer`

When I open `My Computer` to see all the drives all I get is a stupid torch looking for them for ages, can anyone advise as the only thing i can do is to reboot and thats driving me nuts. Please help

1. check all cables are secure and have not come lose

2. try runing diskmanager to see just where all the drive are

3. if that does not work, remove the drives one by one to isolate the offending drive..

Remove any CD or floppy from their drives.
