[SOLVED] Cannot Install Spyware Destructor
Got a note from MSFT today about Spyware Destructor software. I downloaded it and tried to install it. When I run the install program, I get an error indicating I don't have a gdiplus.dll file. I downloaded that and it sits in my windows\temp directory. Where do I put it so I can install the spyware software. I am running win98 SE. Thanks.

In fact if you'll just Google it, you'll see many calling it a "Rogue". Why not stick with what most of this world recognizes as Mainstream Anti-spyware software?..... like Spybot Search & Destroy! You'll be much better off staying with what's tried and true than going off on a tangent with something that could actually be a Rogue. The internet is ablaze with articles about Spyware Destructor. I found this one interesting. http://www.castlecops.com/p1083096-Z...estructor.html Just type "Spyware Destructor" into the Google search engine and start reading. I read just a few posts and found nothing positive about it. Anti Spyware programs that I know to be legitimate and reliable are: AVG Anti-Spyware Spybot Search & Destroy AdAware 2007 Hazard Shield Before putting anything on your computer that you saw in an Ad, Google it extensively to see what others are saying about it. That's just the best advise that this old tech could give you. ![]() Cheers Mate! The Shadow ![]()

Re: Cannot Install Spyware Destructor
Hi all
Just to add another precaution for the future: Microsoft does not send out email containing patches, updates, or spyware removal software. Should you receive such email, it is most likely a "phishing" ruse -- which tries to fool you into installing rogue software (just as TheShadow mentioned). Uninstall - manually delete if necessary, any files related to "Spyware Destructor". Try scanning with your installed antivirus, on "thorough" settings, and try scanning with Spybot or AdAware - or any of the well-recommended tools TheShadow pointed you to. If you find evidence of serious infection, you might benefit from the 5-Step Security Checklist in the TSF Security forums --- IMPORTANT - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help Best of luck . . .
