Question Win 95 shutdown error

I have a problem with just two of my Win 95 machines. When they are shutdown normally they stick on the blue Windows is shutting down screen. This only happens when the computers are logged into the network (Novell 4.1/NT 4.0/Exchange 2000). You can "logg of" the user then bypass the network login, then do a normal shutdown and it works fine. I figure that these two machines are not getting a message back from the server to disconnect and shutdown.... but I have no idea where to start looking for a permanet fix. Any advice would be appreciated!

In windows 98 there are two patches that work for this same problem......now the only problem is i can't remember which one does the job! Both will do no harm and can be found at the windows update site. The first one is called something along the lines of "Mapped Drives Shut Down Patch" and the second one is something like "HDD Cache Patch". I will check tommorow on a WIn95 box and get the exact Names.

This is an unfortunately common problem with the Win95/98 brand.

I'm not sure what causes it (lack of BIOS/MB support, software patches, et al), but you are just the victim of one of these.

What I'm telling you is: it's common (but fixable I think).

;)

As has been said, a common problem.

Bad news is there are a lot of causes. As you have already identified, it is probably network related.

As to where to start looking - here is where to start looking:
