Re: Antivirus for Win98 ?
If you use NOD32 for 30 days you will be willing to purchase
![]() But if you are persistent and want something free, try AVG Free Edition.

uses less resouses than avg, provides p2p protection and e-mail.you have to reregister every 14 months but its worth it since it uses less memory. |

Re: Antivirus for Win98 ?
Hi all
I didn't use to recommend avast! for Win9x/Me users (because I think it performs better in WinXP/Vista) ... but it's a strong performer for detection/removal, ranking well year and year in the annual "roundup" reviews. But now I don't quibble too much about Win98 tools --> I'm glad that there are still ANY choices left for Win9x users. . . . Is AVG still providing a Win9x compatible version? They've been rumbling for quite some time about dropping support for Win9x/Me. I had AVG 7 on my youngest daughters Win98se partition, but finally just disabled the network adapter in 98 .. leaving her Internet visits restricted to XP. _______________ Too funny . . . . I have to agree that the default avast! "skin" is ugly. For quick relief, go to the Main Menu, and under the "Select Skin" option, choose the "kde" skin == nicely subdued & much easier to read. Many, many other skins are available on the avast! website. For free, of course. It's late here in So. Cal ... so Goodnight all . . . Gary

http://www.avast.com/ home page http://www.grisoft.com/
I tell you what is ugly. the avg icon in your taskbar.I have been useing avast for over ten years. starting with win 95. It does not matter what the home page looks like, its how well the product performs and updates.Right now my avast is 55 mg, full of definitions.I will give you an example of resourses. IN my control panel-hardware-devices-hidden devices. there are two avast showing. With AVG, I forget how many, but it is a heck of a lot more than two. |

http://www.avg.com/faq.num-1350#faq_1350 after that date is passed, consider switching to either avast or nod32 v2.7 and install their latest virus protection updates. Last edited by np-guy30; 11-30-2008 at 01:18 PM. |

Better off using NOD32 v2.7 for Win95, 98 & ME as ESET still provides updates for that version. |
